About Me
Hi, After completing a degree in Economics at Exeter University in July 2005, I needed a break. I chose India because it is such a vast country with so many different places to see. GapGuru has given

This was India!

Arriving at Delhi airport I didn't know what to expect. I was glad to be met by a rep as I walked through the arrivals area bombarded by taxi drivers. Walking out of the airport the humidity hit me. This was India! I arrived at the home stay in Green Park and met my hostess. I was relieved that she spoke English and happy to see her. Immediately she offered me some food and showed me around the house.

Teaching in Cochin

Posted By Tom Carlton on 15 Nov 2005
The train journey to Cochin was an experience. It was the longest journey of my life and probably one of the most memorable. Sitting on what could only be described as a prison cell bed I realized I was going to be there for 48 hours. When the waiter came round with the food menu.egg curry or curry with no egg, I realized that it was going to be a learning experience. The journey ended up not being as bad as I thought as I managed to catch up on some reading and sample some of the Indian countryside along the way.
